Herbert Huppert FRS is an Emeritus Professor at Cambridge University and a distinguished Fellow of King's College, Cambridge, celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of geological fluid mechanics. Co-founding the discipline with Sir Stephen Sparks, Huppert has significantly advanced our understanding of complex fluid phenomena in geological and environmental contexts. Professor Moatamedi is the President of the International Society of Multiphysics and the Executive Director of New York University London. Prior to this, he served as President of Al Ghurair University and held senior managerial positions at Imperial College London, Narvik University College, Cranfield University, the University of Salford, and the University of Sheffield. He is the Editor-in-Chief of 'The International Journal of Multiphysics' and Chairman of the associated conferences. Professor Moatamedi is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), a Fellow of the Nuclear Institute (NI), a Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and a Chartered Engineer. He has served as the Chairman of the Manchester Branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society and has been a member of several national and international scientific committees. Additionally, he has been an advisor to various industrial and governmental bodies, including the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR). He also led the development of the Multiphysics competence standards for the European Union.

L. RIDGWAY SCOTT is Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago, and he is the Executive Director of the Ridgway Scott Foundation that supports fundamental research in simulation technology. He obtained the B. S. degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Tulane University in 1969 and the Ph. D. degree in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973. His study of fluid dynamics was initiated in 1976 by collaborations with people in the group of T. Brooke Benjamin. The research initially focused on models of surface water waves. This was later expanded and continues today with a focus on computational techniques. Areas of interest in fluids include rheological flows as well as Newtonian flows at high Reynolds numbers, especially chaotic flows (a.k.a., turbulence). Scott is well known for computational algorithms which have exact incompressibility, work that was initiated with Michael Vogelius in 1986. Professor Scott has published papers on fundamental computational aspects of nuclear engineering, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, computational chemistry, and he coauthored a book on parallel computing. This includes boundary element, finite difference, finite element and spectral techniques for solving partial differential equations, as well as models for fluids at the molecular scale, again co-authoring a book on the subject.
